Apple unveiled the iPhone 17e, its newest “entry-level” smartphone as a more affordable alternative to the standard iPhone 17.
Officially announced on 2 March it features the latest A19 chip and support for Apple Intelligence at a lower price point compared to the high-priced 17 series.
Value first
While many want to own iPhone and with current 17, 17 Pro and Pro Max, out of reach for many consumers, the 17e is just the device to draw consumers into the Apple ecosystem.
The Apple iPhone 17e is a strategic “value-first” device as competition between smartphone manufactures intensify, especially Chinse brands who have flooded the market with cost-effective device boasting flagship features.
This has left consumers spoilt for choice, but Apple seems to draw consumers to the devices, despite dated aesthetics, but upgraded internal and soft

Features
The iPhone 17e is a highly capable “starter iPhone” for those upgrading from significantly older models and want a new phone. But it makes notable compromises in display and camera versatility.
The iPhone 17e serves as a strategic middle ground for Apple, blending high-end internals with a legacy physical design to hit a $599 price point.
While it delivers exceptional value by doubling base storage to 256GB and including the powerful A19 chip for Apple Intelligence, it maintains a clear hierarchy by retaining the traditional display notch and a 60Hz refresh rate.
Users will benefit from modern conveniences like MagSafe and a high-resolution 48MP camera, yet they must sacrifice the ultra-wide lens and specialized physical buttons found on the flagship models.
Ultimately, it is a “performance-first” budget device that prioritizes longevity and processing speed over the latest display and camera trends.
Availability and pricing
The device features an aerospace-grade aluminum frame with a premium matte finish on the glass back. It is available in three colours, black, white and soft pink (new for this generation)
