Every once in a while, a product comes along that changes everything and this has been the case with the Huawei watches.

Just days after Apple released its watch series 11, Huawei has unveiled its GT6 series which ticks the right boxes when it comes to features, specifically battery life.

Launch

Huawei announced the new wearable at the “Ride the Wind” launch event in Paris on Friday, September 19, 2025, with the Watch GT6 series making its debut as the successor to last year’s GT5 and GT5 Pro.

The Chinese company also unveiled the Watch Ultimate 2, and D2 with advanced health and fitness monitoring.

Other announcements included the debut of the Huawei Nova 14 Series, FreeBuds7i, and MatePad 12 X.

Battery

When it comes to watches, battery life has always been the downfall of most smartwatches, especially those by Apple.

Even after years of perfecting wearable designs, most smartwatch brands still struggle to get you through more than a few days without needing a re-juice.

Huawei, on the other hand, has built a reputation for crafting smartwatches that last a bit longer than your average and now the brand has pushed that even further with up to 21 days battery life

That’s three full weeks on a single charge – roughly 12 times the staying power of Apple’s newly released Watch Ultra 3, which taps out after 42 hours.

Durability

There is also shifting strategy from Huawei to focus more on durability and resilience is to broaden the appeal of its wearables by specifically targeting fitness enthusiasts, outdoor users, and consumers who prioritize reliability in everyday use.

Huawei Watch GT 6 series continue the geometric-dial look, giving a sporty feel around your wrist with sharp-angled look around the dial.

Health monitoring

Health has become a priority for many, especially after the Covid 19 Pandemic. Heart rates, blood oxygen, electrocardiogram (ECG) and blood pressure measuring which was once confined to the doctors rooms with a consultation fee can now be measured with a wearable on your wrist.

In South Africa, cardiovascular disease is responsible for almost one in six deaths (17.3%) with strokes the third highest cause.

This makes wearable technology an important tool in a bid to maintain health.

Workouts

Building on a library of over 100 workout modes, the GT 6 Series introduces substantial upgrades to four essential outdoor activities: cycling, trail running, golf, and skiing.

The new Cycling mode introduces a virtual power meter, providing professional-grade performance analytics without the need for a pro-level power meter, and unlocks a more advanced cycling experience.

The Trail running mode gains next-level features, such as pinpoint positioning, altitude trend charts, and real-time grade analysis. Meanwhile, the upgraded Golf mode comes with a host of high-level features, including high-definition fairway maps.

Watch Ultimate 2 and D2

The Huawei Watch Ultimate 2 debuts as the industry’s first smartwatch rated for 150-meter diving with audio functionality.

It’s sonar-based underwater communication enables underwater watch-to-watch messaging up to 30 metres and a one-touch SOS up to 60 metres.

The latest iteration of the Huawei Watch D2 comes in blue and supports more comprehensive blood pressure monitoring features, including single reminders and recurring reminders.

Combined with individual measurements and ambulatory blood pressure monitoring, these features create a robust and versatile system for effective blood pressure management.

According to Huawei, “Now is Yours” is underpinned by openness and inclusivity, aiming to create cultural and emotional resonance through technology that is both innovative and human.
