Following Apple’s global announcement, the iStore has announced that it will be bringing the iPhone 17 range, including the all-new iPhone Air, to South Africa from 19 September.

The iStore said the Apple Watch Series 11, SE 3 and Ultra 3 will also be available on the same day (19 September 2025, with pre-orders opening on 12 September 2025).

Apple on Tuesday announced the first major redesign of the iPhone in years when it confirmed the launch of a new, thinner model called the iPhone Air which the company is hoping will boost iPhone sales.

The Cupertino tech company also launched the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max, Apple Watches and AirPods during the launch.

Apple teased the event with the phrase “awe dropping” with CEO Tim Cook calling the new devices the “biggest leap ever for iPhone.”

At just 5.6mm thick (less than a quarter inch), the iPhone Air features Apple’s new A19 Pro processor,  its most powerful iPhone chip to date and promises all-day battery life with up to 40 hours of video playback.

Apple said all new iPhone models feature improved camera capabilities that let users take sharper photos and record more stable videos.

Apple also introduced the AirPods Pro 3, featuring enhanced noise cancellation and real-time translation capabilities, along with the Apple Watch Series 11, which includes 5G connectivity, extended battery life, and heart health monitoring features pending regulatory approval.

iStore CEO Chris Dodd said two decades ago, they set out to bring the very best of Apple to South Africans.

“As we bring the all-new iPhone 17 and iPhone Air to our customers, that commitment remains. With iPhone 17 at iStore, each customer purchase is supported by expert service, market-leading trade in options, free value like iCare Plus and a choice of the major cellular networks under one roof.”

Pricing

iStore has not announced the official pricing for the new iPhone, but explained that customers can trade in up to five devices, including iPhones, Macs, iPads, Apple Watches, PCs, or Android smartphones and receive up to R23,000 cash back to put toward a new iPhone 17 or iPhone Air.

Every iPhone purchase also comes with iCarePlus valued at R1,999. This provides extra comfort with a screen replacement and buy-back guarantee.

iStore will also offer the usual cellular network upgrades and contracts for customers across Vodacom, MTN, or Telkom.
