Looking for some new buds and headphones? Sony has unveiled the WF 1000XM6, the latest addition to its acclaimed 1000X series of truly wireless noise cancelling earbuds, alongside a new Sand Pink edition of the WH 1000XM6 overhead headphones.
Available in Platinum Silver and Black, the WF 1000XM6 builds on the WF 1000XM5 with superior noise cancellation, enhanced call quality, improved connectivity, and a slimmer, ergonomically refined design for greater comfort.
Noise cancelling
The WF 1000XM6 delivers Sony’s most advanced noise cancelling yet, reducing ambient sound by 25% compared to its predecessor, particularly in the mid to high frequency range common in everyday environments.
Powered by the HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN3e and the Integrated Processor V2, the earbuds employ four microphones and adaptive optimisation to tailor performance in real time, even compensating for individual ear shapes.
Sony’s Noise Isolation Earbud Tips, available in four sizes, further balance comfort with effective sealing.

Sound quality
Sound quality is driven by dual processors, a newly designed driver unit, and 32 bit processing for richer audio.
The unique diaphragm structure produces deep bass and clear highs, while Hi Res Audio Wireless, DSEE Extreme, 360 Reality Audio, and a customisable 10 band EQ ensure versatility.
Sony collaborated with Grammy winning engineers to fine tune the WF 1000XM6, aiming to reproduce music exactly as artists intended.
Call clarity is enhanced through dual microphones, bone conduction sensors, and AI beamforming, isolating speech even in noisy settings.

Design
The earbuds are 11% slimmer, feature improved ventilation to reduce internal noise, and come with a redesigned case for easier handling.
Connectivity benefits from larger antennas and advanced algorithms, supporting LE Audio for low latency gaming.
Availbility
Battery life reaches eight hours per charge, with 24 hours via the case, plus Qi wireless charging.
Environmentally, the WF 1000XM6 incorporates 25% recycled materials and plastic free packaging.
In South Africa, the WF 1000XM6 (ZAR 7,999) and WH 1000XM6 Sand Pink (ZAR 10,999) will be available from April 3, 2026.
