Comic Con Africa has officially kicked off in South Africa with thousands of visitors expected over the next four days.

This year, the festival is even bigger, with an impressive lineup of events, interactive experiences, and panels catering to every facet of pop culture.

Walkabout

During a media walkabout on Wednesday, organisers said they are expected about 75 000 visitors to walk through the doors on Saturday.

Comic Con Africa takes place from 28 to 31 August.

Exhibitors were furiously rushing to set up the stalls of opening day on Thursday. Some of the major brands that are even include Nintendo, Disney+, Funko Pops, Red Bull and NAG Magazine among others.

Nintendo

For those who love gaming, Nintendo’s South Africa distributor has brought the overall Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 experience alongside exciting activities, competitions, and interactive showcases across three dedicated stands.

The Nintendo stand is amazing and should keep visitors enthralled.

Doritos is also back and it’s bigger, louder, and crunchier than ever.

Doritos

In 2025, Comic Con Africa said goodbye to the Crunch Zone and welcomes the bigger and bolder Doritos Crunch Arena.

Doritos will be giving away a PS5 daily. Scan the QR codes scattered around the show and in the Crunch Arena and be at the Arena every day at 3pm for the live randomised draw – you could be leaving the Con with a console in hand!

Toys R Us is also bringing an exclusive fandom playground to KidsCon, where fans can hunt down limited-edition collectibles from Marvel, Star Wars, LEGO, Funko Pops and more.

AXE

AXE returns to Comic Con Africa with a stand-out activation themed Empowered by AXE, inviting fans to celebrate confidence, individuality, and bold self-expression through an immersive fragrance journey.

From the moment you step into the AXE-perience Zone, you enter the AXE universe. The experience kicks off with a 360-degree projection space that sets the tone for a powerful sensory adventure.

Acer

With so much to experience, last but to least, Acer Africa is set to make a significant statement at Comic Con Africa 2025, revealing an exciting new product category for the first time in the local market.

Attendees will have the opportunity to get a hands-on experience with the new product, participate in exciting gaming activations, and meet with the Acer team.

Comic Con Africa

Comic Con Africa, the continent’s largest celebration of pop culture and technology, provides the perfect stage for Acer to showcase how it is driving the future of gaming and connected lifestyles in South Africa.

Comic Con Africa is a place where fans can show up as their truest, most imaginative selves and be met with nothing but encouragement, awe, and community.

One of the major draws of Comic Con Africa is the chance to meet stars from your favourite TV shows, movies, and web series.

Ticket prices which started from R180 to R250 per person (day pass) or R750 per person (four-day pass) are mostly sold out.

Celebrity sessions must be booked separately.
