Mobile operator Cell C Business and Huawei Cloud signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen collaboration on cloud, digital infrastructure, and industry-specific solutions.
The agreement was signed at AfricaCom, Africa’s largest technology and telecoms gathering in Cape Town on Tuesday.
Digital transformation
According to the duo, the agreement is expected to advance South Africa’s digital transformation agenda.
“This renewed alliance builds on a 20-year strategic partnership between the two organisations across both Carrier and Consumer Business Groups. It marks an important evolution in their relationship, extending beyond connectivity and now focusing on cloud, to include innovative vertical solutions that address the needs of key sectors such as healthcare, education, and government digitisation.
“Aligned to Cell C Business Smart Partnerships strategy, this collaboration underscores the company’s ambition to move beyond connectivity, delivering end-to-end digital solutions that empower government, corporates, and SMEs to operate more efficiently in an increasingly data driven economy,” they said.
Solutions
Key solutions within the ecosystem include mobile health solutions that enable government to reach remote communities, improving patient access and outcomes through secure, real-time digital platforms.
It will also enabling mobile health services that connect remote patients with healthcare providers through secure, low latency connectivity and data driven health applications. Huawei Cloud said that it would indeed be looking to roll out Pangu models via Cell C Business for local partners and customers, with smart mining, weather, content creation, and agriculture

Huawei’s enterprise technology stack – spanning cloud, networking, storage, AI and intelligent computing, provides the backbone for high-performance, scalable solutions capable of supporting mission critical applications across industries,” Huawei Cloud said.
“Huawei Cloud’s strong local presence, including three data centres in South Africa and a dedicated technical team, guarantees that clients benefit from global standards delivered with local responsiveness and support.”

Partnership
By leveraging Huawei Cloud’s robust architecture and Cell C’s extensive partner network, the alliance enables rapid deployment of industry relevant digital solutions that address national priorities such as digital healthcare, education modernisation, and smart government transformation.
The partnership also supports South Africa’s National Development Plan by promoting digital inclusion, local innovation, and economic growth through technology led empowerment and sustainable development.
