Huawei GT 7 Series watches
Huawei expanded its wearable ecosystem on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, with the launch of the Watch GT 7 Series at the SHOWPALAST in Munich.
The new lineup introduces more advanced sports analytics, expanded health‑risk assessments and a more rugged outdoor design, signalling Huawei’s continued push into high‑performance wearables as it competes with Apple, Garmin and Samsung.
GT 7 series
The GT 7 Series arrives in two models — the standard GT 7 in 41 mm and 46 mm sizes, and the more robust GT 7 Pro — both building on the GT line’s reputation for long battery life and data‑driven training features.
The Pro variant uses a titanium alloy frame, nano‑tech ceramic bezel and sapphire glass to improve scratch resistance and durability in outdoor environments. Huawei’s new EasyCross strap, available only on fluoroelastomer bands, tucks under itself to reduce friction and improve stability during exercise.
Colour options range from outdoor‑inspired greens, yellows and blacks on the Pro to more fashion‑oriented blues, pinks and greys on the standard models.
Snow sports
Snow‑sports tracking receives the most substantial upgrade. Although South Africans were teased with the possibility of snow this winter, indoor skiing remains the closest most locals will get — and Huawei has leaned into that reality.
The GT 7 Series introduces indoor skiing and snowboarding modes designed to address GPS limitations inside indoor resorts. New algorithms allow the watch to distinguish between skiing, resting and being on a lift, while providing metrics such as run time, distance and maximum speed.
Outdoor snow‑sports features have also expanded. The watch now supports maps for more than 3,000 ski resorts across 59 countries, displaying trail names, difficulty levels and lift locations directly on the wrist. Additional features include turn‑type detection and a G‑Force metric, supported by an upgraded AI‑XDR positioning algorithm intended to reduce route drift during high‑speed runs.
Other sports
Cycling features have been broadened with climb‑planning alerts, sharp‑turn warnings and lactate‑threshold heart‑rate detection. After importing a route, the watch can notify riders when a climb begins and provide gradient and elevation details.
Golf tracking on the GT 7 Pro includes plays‑like distance estimates that adjust for slope, custom flagstick placement, auto‑rotating green views and multi‑colour scorecards.
Running modes support real‑time pace and heart‑rate tracking, while Mini‑Workouts offer short, equipment‑free routines. The watch also integrates with third‑party apps for pickleball, tennis, badminton and strength training.

Health ecosystem
Huawei continues to expand its health ecosystem, though it emphasises that the GT 7 Series is not a medical device. New features include Morning Briefing and Physical Readiness summaries, Celia AI Health Insights analysing sleep, stress, diet and phone usage, and an ECG app on the GT 7 Pro.
The watch also supports a Coronary Heart Disease Risk Study, a Hyperglycemia Risk Assessment and an Ovary Health Risk Assessment as part of Huawei’s Women’s Health Study.
Many of these studies require multi‑day data collection and are limited to certain regions and Android devices. An on‑wrist Health Community feature allows users to monitor up to 20 family members’ key indicators and receive alerts for abnormalities.
Battery
Battery life remains a core differentiator. Huawei claims up to 21 days on the 46 mm models under light use, and up to 14 days on the 41 mm versions. Outdoor sport modes can run for up to 51 hours, and the watches include 64 GB of storage for maps, music and watch faces.
The GT 7 Series enters a competitive landscape dominated by Apple, Garmin and Samsung. Huawei’s device sits between these approaches: more advanced in sports science than Apple and Samsung, but still behind Garmin in navigation depth and ecosystem maturity.
Even so, for outdoor athletes already using Huawei’s ecosystem, the GT 7 Series represents a significant upgrade in the company’s wearable lineup.
