Gemini with NotebookLM integration Picture: Google Workspace Updates
Google has unveiled Notebooks in Gemini, a new feature that integrates the power of NotebookLM directly into the Gemini app, turning it into a comprehensive hub for learning, research, and project management.
As AI becomes central to productivity and education, Notebooks in Gemini combines Gemini’s advanced capabilities with NotebookLM’s source grounded approach, enabling users to build personalised knowledge bases around the topics that matter most.
NotebookLM’s
The feature allows people to organise sources, files, and conversations within dedicated notebooks that sync seamlessly across both platforms.
“Across Sub Saharan Africa, we’re seeing growing demand for AI tools that help people learn faster, work smarter and turn information into action,” said Siya Madikane, Communications & Public Affairs Manager at Google South Africa.
“With Notebooks in Gemini, we’re making it easier for students, entrepreneurs, creators and professionals to organise their knowledge, stay on top of projects and get more value from the information they already have.”

Gemini
Google said millions already use Gemini to brainstorm, research, and complete everyday tasks. The new notebooks build on this by creating structured spaces where documents, notes, and conversations can be stored and organised by project or subject.
Once sources are added, Gemini can draw on those materials to deliver personalised, context aware assistance. Updates made in a notebook automatically sync between Gemini and NotebookLM, ensuring continuity across workflows.
Possibilities
The launch opens new possibilities across Sub Saharan Africa:
- Students can consolidate study materials, lecture notes, and assignments into subject specific notebooks, with Gemini transforming them into guides, quizzes, flashcards, or presentations.
- Entrepreneurs can centralise business plans, market research, and customer insights, making it easier to analyse data and identify opportunities.
- Professionals can manage long term projects, maintain reference materials, and preserve context across workstreams without repeatedly uploading documents.
The integration represents a deeper alignment between Gemini and NotebookLM, two of Google’s most popular AI tools.
Availability
Users can start a project in Gemini, continue in NotebookLM with features like Audio and Video Overviews, and return to Gemini for analysis or planning—all while working from the same set of sources.
Notebooks in Gemini is available now to Google AI Ultra, Pro, and Plus subscribers on the web, with mobile access, expanded country availability, and free tier rollout coming soon.
