Packard Bell Daytona G16 Pro

Packard Bell, the iconic technology brand best known for its legacy in personal computing, has made a bold move into the smartphone market with the launch of its first ever handset, the Daytona G16 Pro.

The device, unveiled last month, signals a significant expansion for the company and arrives with an industry first: a fully AI generated advertising campaign.

Whose it for?

Positioned for creators, professionals and everyday users, the Daytona G16 Pro blends premium performance with intelligent design at a competitive price point.

Running Android 15, the phone offers 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, and a triple lens camera system led by a 50MP Dual Pixel AI sensor.

Features

The handset promises seamless multitasking, enhanced photography and all day battery life, supported by a large 6.75 inch edge to edge display and sleek aluminium frame. Dual SIM 4G LTE support ensures flexible connectivity, while consumers also receive a free USB Type C charger and protective cover.

Ross Tucker, Country Manager for Packard Bell South Africa, described the launch as a milestone.

“Our entry into the smartphone market represents a bold new chapter for Packard Bell. The Daytona G16 Pro embodies our commitment to innovation, performance, and intelligent design. Launching it with an AI generated advertising campaign reflects how deeply artificial intelligence is shaping both technology and creativity.”

Campaign

The campaign itself underscores the company’s ambition. Developed entirely through AI — from concept and scriptwriting to visuals, audio and motion graphics — it showcases diverse South African youth in urban settings, dancing and taking selfies to the theme tune “Ring My Bell.”

The creative approach highlights how AI can accelerate production timelines while unlocking new storytelling possibilities.

“The Daytona G16 Pro is a product born in the AI era,” Tucker added. “It felt only natural to showcase it through a campaign created with the very technology that defines its spirit.”

Availability and pricing

The Daytona G16 Pro is now available nationwide at R1,999 through major retailers including Bash (HiOnline), TFG, Makro, Takealot and Amazon.

With its combination of affordability, design and AI driven innovation, Packard Bell’s debut smartphone aims to carve out space in South Africa’s fiercely competitive mobile market.
