Vodacom South Africa has announced a landmark partnership with Amazon South Africa, giving customers access to the full suite of Amazon Prime benefits — from streaming and shopping to gaming and fast delivery.

The deal announced on Thursday, expands Vodacom’s digital lifestyle offering beyond connectivity, positioning the operator as a gateway to entertainment, savings, and convenience.

Benefits

Customers will now enjoy unlimited movies and series, including Amazon Originals on Prime Video; exclusive deals and discounts; early access to shopping events; fast and free delivery in major cities; and gaming perks such as Amazon Luna and Twitch subscriptions.

Rishaad Tayob, Vodacom’s Director of Consumer Business, said the partnership reflects the company’s ambition to build a digital society.

“We are pleased to be a partner of choice for Amazon in South Africa. This partnership marks another important milestone in our journey towards building a digital society through an ecosystem of innovative products and solutions.

“The partnership positions Vodacom as a holistic digital lifestyle provider, going beyond connectivity, offering meaningful everyday benefits that add real value to our customers’ lives,” said Tayob.

Accessibility

The rollout will initially cover Vodacom’s RED Core, RED Flexi, and RED VIP customers, with Home Internet, Mobile Broadband, and Fibre users eligible from August 2026.

RED Flexi customers will receive a three‑month trial, RED Core a 12‑month trial, while RED VIP, Home Internet and Fibre customers will enjoy lifetime access.

Subscription thereafter will cost R59 per month, with prepaid customers able to pay via airtime.

Amazon

Amazon Sub‑Saharan Africa Managing Director Robert Koen said the launch builds on Amazon’s growing footprint in South Africa.

 “We are thrilled to offer Vodacom customers world‑class shopping and entertainment benefits in a single membership through Amazon Prime.

“Launching Amazon Prime is the next exciting milestone on our journey in the country, deepening our commitment to becoming a meaningful part of South Africans’ daily lives,” said Koen.

Prime Video

Mariam Cassim, Vodacom Fintech Group CEO, added: “Through strategic collaborations with leading global partners, we extend benefits beyond connectivity into areas that enrich everyday lives. Our partnership with Amazon is no different.”

Vodacom first introduced Prime Video in 2020 and Prime Video Mobile Edition in 2022.

 “Through partnerships such as this, we remain committed to ensuring our product offerings deliver value for money, helping to ease the financial pressure on our customers, while advancing our purpose of connecting everyone for a better future,” Tayob added.
