The Lego Group has pressed ‘Start’ on a nostalgia‑fuelled collaboration, unveiling the first‑ever Lego PlayStation — a 1,911 piece set that recreates Sony’s legendary original console and controller in near life‑size detail.
Revealed during PlayStation’s State of Play broadcast, the set pays tribute to the grey box that redefined gaming in the 1990s.
Design
Designed for adult builders and collectors, the Lego PlayStation captures the ritual of classic gaming with functional Power and Open buttons, a plug‑in controller, and hidden surprises tucked inside the console.
Builders can pop open the console to discover miniature dioramas inspired by two iconic titles: Gran Turismo (1997), complete with tiny cars racing around a brick‑built track, and Ape Escape (1999), featuring the franchise’s unmistakable red and blue monkey helmets.
These scenes can be concealed inside the console or displayed alongside the model, offering fans a playful nod to the games that defined an era.
Replica
Measuring over 6 cm high, 26 cm wide and 19 cm deep, the near 1:1 scale replica is a premium display piece that celebrates the console’s cultural legacy.
“This set is about more than building bricks — it’s about rebuilding memories,” Lego designers said during the reveal.

Availability and pricing
The Lego PlayStation launches with Early Access for Lego Insiders on 1 October 2026, before general availability on 4 October 2026.
It will retail at R3,199 through LEGO.com/PlayStation, Lego Stores and select retailers.
The release marks the first time Lego has immortalised the PlayStation console in brick form, following successful collaborations with other pop‑culture icons.
